This buzzing beach-side suburb is renowned worldwide - and not only for it’s popular beach. With easy access to the city, an abundance of activities ranging from fitness to food, and accommodation options that span from quaint and cozy, to the ultimate in beachside luxury, Bondi is an amazing place to be.
Just 7 kilometres from Sydney, Bondi Beach is a fantastic spot for young and old. Here you can boogie board in the sparkling ocean, indulge in the many fabulous restaurants, and delight in the vibrant nightlife on offer.
Campbell Parade, the lively stretch along the beachfront, is lined with outdoor eateries, fish and chip shops, and stylish swimwear boutiques. Hall Street features many cool fashion and designer labels, while Curlewis Street is a gallery haven for art lovers.
Every Sunday, the local public school transforms into the Bondi Beach Markets, a flea market where you can pick up some great bargains, including jewellery from local artists, arts and crafts, and pre-loved vintage clothing.
At the southern headland of Bondi Beach you’ll find the fabulous coastal walk. Head out past a collection of smaller beach coves and breathe in the magnificent views as you weave your way to the sister suburb of Coogee.
When in need for a serious shopping fix, head to neighbouring Bondi Junction. Explore one of Sydney’s largest Westfield centres with a ‘who’s who’ of designer brands, major shopping outlets, and everything you need in the way of health food and groceries.
Bondi Junction is also a major transport hub for the eastern suburbs. There’s a busy train station with quick access to the CBD, plus a great network of buses that will take you to the city or surrounding suburbs, all day everyday.
Neighbours
Both locals and tourists can’t help but gravitate to this magnetic beach address. Many surfers and sun-seekers flock to Bondi Beach each weekend, but it’s not just beach goers who reside here. There’s plenty of young families, young professionals, retirees, and the token billionaire or two, who also call Bondi home.
Parks
There is a wonderful collection of unique parks and reserves to be discovered throughout Bondi. The majority are dotted along the beautiful coastline or secretly tucked around glittering beaches, you can access via the coastal walks.
Most parks provide a good variety of recreational options with playgrounds, picnic spots, family BBQ areas and sporting facilities.
Bondi Park, is right in the centre of all the action adjacent to Bondi Beach. If you head down Bondi Road to Campbell Parade, you can’t miss it. This fun and friendly park offers playgrounds, picnic areas and a skatepark.
Biddigal Park, a sloping park above North Bondi Beach, offers a small playground and great views of the ocean.
The beautiful Memorial Gardens in Bondi Junction, set amongst beautiful landscaped gardens, honours the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps and provides a reflective space amongst the busy bustle of Bondi Junction.
Cafes & Restaurants
Bondi Road is the place to head if you’re after a bite. This popular eating and drinking strip sprawling from the beach to the Junction, is lined with bars and restaurants offering every cuisine.
Bondi Icebergs, propped above the historic Icebergs Pool at the soutern end of Bondi Beach, is popular for its bistro and bars and never fails to impress with it’s draw-dropping ocean views.
