Surfs up all year round in this handy seaside community. With a fabulous beachside location, amenities galore, and activities to keep you going day and night, Maroubra packs a punch thats hard to beat.
Once you’ve landed in the heart of Maroubra, it’s easy to forget you’re only 20 minutes from the city. Wide open spaces, recreational areas and an active nightlife scene, give locals plenty of room for serious R&R.
Perhaps the most outstanding feature in Maroubra is it’s remarkable beach. Crowned a National Surfing Reserve - Maroubra Beach is a 1km curved strip of white sand that offers some of Australia’s most consistent reef and beach breaks. Nicknamed ‘The Bra’ by locals, it’s an endless hive of activity, hosting regular surfing contests, markets, festivals, and bikini competitions.
Keeping fit is almost mandatory in Maroubra. If surfings not your thing, you can always jog along the promenade, push a few weights at the outdoor gym, or spin a board at the skate park. Enjoying the beachfront reserve, is also popular with families who love gathering in the picnic areas, shaded playgrounds and child-friendly rock pools.
When it comes to shopping, you’re spoilt for choice in Maroubra. The major shopping centre, Pacific Square is located along Anzac Parade and Maroubra Road. Additional shopping villages, such as Dudley’s Emporium, Lexington Place and South Maroubra Shopping village, also offer a smaller variety of shops and supermarkets.
Neighbours
If you love to work hard and play hard, then you’ll fit in well at Maroubra. Residents vary from singles, couples, and young families, many who love to hit the surf early, before heading to the office in the city. After work, it’s all about keeping fit, staying beachside, and making time for socialising.
Parks
The beach itself has everything you need for a great family day out – picnic tables, large grassy areas, showers, toilets and shops.
For young children, there is a fantastic shaded playground to explore, whilst older kids will love taking their skateboards, scooters and bikes for a spin at Maroubra Skate Park.
Venture north of the beach to discover Jack Vanny Memorial Park and Mahon Pool, another green space with great views of the ocean along the Coastal Walk. Head south, and you’ll stumble upon find Arthur Byrne Reserve, a stretch of green enjoying a prime position between the surf and sand from Marine Parade. In addition to awesome views, the park also offers BBQs, undercover picnic tables, access to bathrooms, showers and kiosks.
Central Park located between Storey Street and Keating Street, also provides a fun playground, shaded seating and a small bike track for the little ones. Whilst, only 5 minutes away Coral Sea Park provides a huge range of sporting facilities including rugby and soccer fields, cricket pitch, practice nets and large children’s playground.

Relaxed restaurants, hamburger joints and takeaway cafes are found both beachside, along Anzac Parade, and throughout the main shopping precincts of Maroubra,
The Pavilion Beachfront serves brekkie and lunch in a vibrant, airy locale with panoramic windows and sweeping beach views. El Toro Tapas e Pizza Bar, dishes up eclectic pizza, pasta and tapas in an intimate space with gingham tablecloths.
The Pool Cafe stands out with an enviable position opposite Mahon Pool boasting 180 degree views of the ocean and headline.
